THERE IS SOMETHING NEW at First Presbyterian Church. A new opportunity to make a joyful noise! A new opportunity to lead and participate in a service of worship. “FIRST PRAISE,” a new Sunday worship service, 9:00 AM Sunday mornings in the Jane C. Noonan Center great room. Not simply a clone of the wonderful and meaningful worship services we now share at either 8:30 or 11:00 am each Sunday morning. But a new STYLE service! A service featuring a variety of music and a lot of congregational singing. Of course, it will include a scripturally-based message, individual and corporate prayers, and opportunities to offer our lives and our substance to God. Please join us and see what all the excitement is about!

Their Board of Directors extends their sincere thanks to FPC for all we do for the Children’s Chorus to help them continue their music mission.

Roger reminded of the many things we have to celebrate, such as, the Session Retreat, the Elderberry End of Year Picnic, the Senior Banquet, 23 members went to Sunset Gap, TN for a mission trip. Debbie Layton spent two weeks with Presbytery of Florida Delegation to Cape Town, South Africa as a missionary. Roger also reminded us to attend these upcoming events in the life of our Church: Fourth of July picnic at NAS, Montreat Youth conference July 12-19, Montreat Middle School Conference at Presbyterian College, SC July 23 – 27, Dr. Jack Lurton “Defending Your Faith” Series for the Summer Enrichment Program July 28-Aug. 1 and SWAM (summer worship and music) for the children.

Jerry Walker of property and administration reported that the grass out front will die soon, it will turn brown, it will be taken up and sodded. Don’t be alarmed. The recycling dumpster will be picked up twice a week starting soon! Remember to break down your boxes. Jerry will have an article coming out in the newsletter with more news on this.

Deborah Potter, Director of Children’s Ministry and Education, reported about her team’s summer planning meetings which are each Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 and they are looking for volunteers to join them. The SWAM program which will happen during the daytime hours July 28-Aug1 is our VBS. She needs helping hands and giving hearts. Call Deborah if you can help her please or if you know of someone who could help out in this way.
